Introduction
Developed in France, a blunt-tip cannula is a small tube with a rounded end, specifically designed for atraumatic intradermal injections of fluids such as Derma Fillers, Hyaluronic Acid Filler (HA filler) and other injectable fillers. The Blunt microcannula is truly revolutionizing the way doctors are performing facial fillers injections. With the fexible blunt cannula, Doctors can slide the Microcannula under the patient's skin so that the filler can be applied with practically no pain or bruising for the patient. With no local anesthesia required, it is truly a revolution in the field providing the most comfortable injection experience for patients.
FlexFill™ Micro cannula has lateral opening on the tip of the cannula allowing the product to be dispensed more evenly. Over the years a wide array of blunt-tip micro-cannulae have been designed that offer variety in flexibility, size and diameter, but all are very small in diameter. The modern FlexFill™ micro-cannulae allow both superficial and more involved procedures. Different sizes can also be used to inject fillers of nearly any type of level of viscosity. Extremely flexible, long micro-cannulae can be used to employ the "fanning technique", a method that allows for treatment of a large area through a single puncture point.
Design of FlexFill™ Micro cannula
- Surgical-grade stainless steel polished with a specific industrial process (Polyglass) ensure the most safe and comfortable injection.
- The hub is ergonomically shaped and allows smooth manipulation during insertion and removal of the cannula.
- Color coded Hub indicating the diameter of the cannula for easy identification of needle size
- Blunt end with a small lateral port allowing products to be dispensed into the skin.
- The perfect length/thickness ratio of the stainless tube guarantee the best flexibility and resistance of the needles.
- The internal diameter and the length of the stainless tube are specifically designed to adapt to the viscosity of the different types of fillers;
- Surface treatment to allow a perfect sliding into skin.
Thanks to the high quality stainless tube, the FlexFill™ cannula can optimally slides into the skin allowing for an atraumatic penetration through the dermis and Sub-Q layer. - Flexible Cannula: Flexible cannulas for superficial & stiffer cannulas for deep injections.
- Blunt tip: DOES NOT CUT THROUGH NERVES OR VESSELS
The blunt tips slide under the skin without causing any trauma. - Red dot Hub marking: FOR EXTRA PRECISION
Indicating location of side orifice for a precise injection. More control, more precision, better results. - Centimetric graduation along the stainless steel tube for a symmetrical depth of injection.
- Sterilisation method: EO (Ethylene Oxide); Non-toxic, Pyrogen Free.
Comparison
Inner Diameter VS Gauge
• The gauge is the outside diameter. The inner-diameter can vary within the same gauge.
• The larger inner-diameter allows for better flow of the product. But it also affects the flexibility and the strength of the cannula.
• FlexFill™ Micro cannula is the perfect balance between ultimate product flow, strength & Flexibility
Smooth and clean surface finishing
Advantages of FlexFill™ Microcannula
- More Accurate:
The filler can be placed with great precision at any facial area. - Safer treatment:
Much safer than using a classical sharp needle as the blunt Microcannula does not cut through vessels and tissues but rather navigates smoothly through the dermis and Sub-Q layer (depending on thickness and flexibility of microcannula used) - Considerably less pain and Virtually no bruising:
Patients undergoing blunt cannula injection experience much less discomfort than during needle injections. The blunt end and flexibility of the microcannula allow for virtually painless and non-traumatic procedure. - Better result:
Through the fanning technique and thanks to the length of the microcannula, very few entry points are needed in order to cover the entire face. - More Efficient
The entire lip, nasolabial fold, mandibular sulcus, cheek, or temple area can be augmented through a single puncture site. Only 2-4 entry points are needed for full face injections. - Minimal downtime
The social downtime associated with traditional technique is practically eliminated with less edema and swelling and minor bruising and/or vessel laceration. - More Effective:
Fillers can be administered with greater precision so the results are more natural and less product is needed to treat most areas. - Stimulates new collagen production:
Research suggests that moving the micro cannula back-and-forth in the dermis, stimulates the fibroblasts to produce new collagen, even without the addition of fillers. As a results the skin begins to tighten by initiating growth factors.
FlexFill™ Microcannula Sizes and Usage
FlexFill™ microcannulas are available in various lengths and gauges to allow the procedure to be customized following your preference and to better fulfill patients’ needs.
Blunt Cannual & Sharp Needle Kit Size
The 22G x 50mm blunt microcannula can be used for viscous & highly concentrated fillers, injections deep into the skin to create volume
The 23G x 1⅛" (30mm) blunt microcannula can be used for fillers of medium concentration and viscosity, HA’s (precise work)
The 25G x 50mm blunt microcannula can be used for medium to thick HA and non HA fillers for median to deep injections (can be used for most facial indications)
The 25G x 40mm blunt microcannula can be used for medium to thick HA and non HA fillers for median to deep injections (can be used for most facial indications)
The 27G x 50mm blunt microcannula can be used for fillers of medium concentration and viscosity, HAs (extra length to cover larger treatment area)
The 27G x 40mm blunt microcannula can be used for fillers of medium concentration and viscosity, HA's (most versatile size, used for most facial indications)
The 27G x 1" (25mm) blunt microcannula can be used for fillers of medium concentration and viscosity, HA’s (precise work)
The 30G x 25mm blunt microcannula is used for low concentration and viscosity HA fillers, superficial injections (tear trough, fine lines)
FlexFill™ Microcannula Sizes and Usage
- Puncture a hole into the skin
The gauge of the sharp needle needs to be slightly superior to the gauge of the microcannula in use. - Insert the tip of the Microcannula into the skin
Follow these tips from our most advanced injectors to guarantee an easy entry into the skin:
Insertion of the tip of the microcannula should be from a 60 to 90 degree angle until the correct depth has been found.
Pinch the skin to create a small drop of blood out of the puncture hole which should help you locate the hole.
Stretch the skin opposite direction with the non-injecting hand to help enlarge the puncture hole.
Place the index finger of the injecting hand close to the tip of the microcannula to help guide the cannula into the skin.or hold the syringe like a dart. - Slide the Microcannula into the skin
As you are entering the skin, rotate the cannula tangentially to the skin surface using the flexibility of the microcannula.
tip: If any resistance is encountered, go back and forth without forcing. - Inject filler in a retrograde fashion
Start injecting while pulling the length of the microcannula in and out of the skin. To change direction, pull the cannula out of the skin almost entirely, back to step two (leaving the tip at the desired depth)
tip: You can fan the area 360 degrees around the hole. - Massage
It's recommended to massage the skin after the injection to make sure the filler has been evenly distributed.
