What's PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of a number of growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios.
How to Make PRP?
PRP Preparation Procedure
1. Withdraw Blood and Prepare PRP.
a. Fill PRP tubes with patient's blood.
b. Turn the tube upside down for 3-5 times, then place it in the straight position for 15-20 minutes.
2. Centrifugation.
a. Placed in a centrifuge for 10-15 minutes at speed 3000-3500rpm (room temperature 20-25℃)
b. Blood will fractionate, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) will be on top and red blood cells and white blood cells at the bottom, the platelet-poor plasma (PPP) is discarded. Concentrated platelets are collected into a sterile syringe.
3. Difference between swing-out (bucket) and fixed angle rotors
Swing Out Rotors
Swing-out rotor (also known as bucket rotor, swing bucket rotors, rotor with variable angle) – is the rotor, in which tubes are located in the buckets (tube-holders) and those buckets are not rigidly attached to the rotor with a certain angle. Instead, buckets are attached to the rotor in a way, that allows them to spin horizontally (angle relative to the axis of rotation - 90 degrees)
Fixed Angle Rotors
As the name indicates, a fixed angle rotor holds tubes at a fixed angle-- usually 45°. During centrifugation, the densest particles in the solution will separate towards the angle of the centripetal force.
The main difference between above-mentioned types of the rotor is connected with “working angle” (angle relative to the axis of rotation). The force that affects the centrifuged sample (RCF, relative centrifugal force) is directed exactly perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotor. Thus, the sample is divided strictly in the direction of RCF. If bucket rotor is used – the RCF is directed through the center of the tube.
For PRP collection, obviously, it's better to choose a centrifuge with swing out rotor for collection.
Application of PRP
Platelets release growth factors which regulate the healing cascade by signaling to surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new tissue. Key growth factors involved in this process include but are not limited to:
- Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)
- Transforming Growth Factor group (TGF)
- Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
- Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)
- Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF)
- Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF)

It works on both 15ml and 8ml tubes, you can try to search PRP tubes on the website directly to find the tubes we have
