Introduction of Rejuran

What are Polyneucleotides (PN)?

Polydeoxyribonuclotides (PDRN) has previously been used as a skin injectable for anti-ageing and hair growth treatments in Korea, and medically for skin regeneration purposes. PN is a purer and more concentrated form of PDRN and has stronger regenerative properties

Polynucleotide (PN) used in Rejuran is a type of biological molecule similar to DNA in cells and is extracted from salmon. The main reason salmon was used is because salmon DNA was found to have beneficial effects on human skin and the DNA is very similar to human DNA. Researchers found that salmon DNA is safe and it is purified to prevent causing side effects such as allergic reactions. PN can help the skin by providing anti-inflammatory and wound healing mechanisms which in turn can help to stimulate collagen, improve hydration and elasticity of the skin.

Scope of Rejuran I

1.  Dark circles reduced and swelling under the eyes (pocket under the eyes)
2. Treatment of the first signs of aging in the area around the ophthalmic region (crows’ feet, wrinkles under the eyes)
3. Skin restoration that has become thinner after cosmetic procedures

Difference between Rejuran I and Rejuran Healer 

Rejuran-i is the same as Rejuran Healer but in a thinner form allowing easier injection into the areas around the eyes which are more sensitive and have thinner skin. This also allows faster recovery after injection. This product can help with the fine wrinkles around the eyes and in some cases (results vary) help improve the appearance of dark eye circles after 3-4 sessions at 1 month intervals. Compared to Rejuran Healer which has 2 ml per syringe, each syringe of Rejuran-i has 1 ml. To treat areas around the eye, 1 syringe is usually recommended. This can be done in combination on the same day with treatments like lasers and other injections like Rejuran Healer.

How to store it

This filler should be stored between 2 and 25°C in a hermetic container and kept away from light.

FAQ

1. Is the treatment painful?

A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for 15-20 minutes to minimize any discomfort. Following this, tiny fine needles are used to administer Rejuran i into the skin. After the injection, our therapists will apply some healing creams to the treated areas.

2. What part of face/neck can be treated?

Rejuran i is useful in particular in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, appearance of eye bags, dark circles and crow’s feet.

3. How many treatments will I require?

In clinical studies done, improvement of crow’s feet, wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes were seen after 4 treatments (2 week interval in between treatments) in 94% of patients undergoing treatment.

4. What can I expect after having the Rejuran i (eye) treatment?

After your first treatment, most expect to see reduced skin inflammation and improved skin texture. For best results, it is generally recommended to administer Rejuran i fortnightly in the first 2-3 months, followed by 6 monthly injections thereafter. Results generally appear after 4 weeks of injection.

However, as with anything skin, everyone is different and results may vary. It is best to let our doctors perform a thorough assessment and tailor a personalized treatment plan for you.

5. Are there any adverse effects from the treatment?

In clinical studies done, no adverse effects were seen from the treatment. Common side effects may include mild swelling or redness over injection sites which is usually short-lived.

6. Is there any downtime for the Rejuran? 

Downtime with Rejuran is very minimal as the needle used is very small. Patients may experience slight bumpiness of the skin right after the treatment, but this usually subsides within 30 – 60 mins.
Minimal redness is experienced with manual injections.

7. What should i do after the treatment?

You will have redness and swelling (“bumps” which look like small mosquito bites) on the injection sites for 1-2 days after the day of the treatment. You are advised to stay indoors for 24-48 hours after the treatment to avoid external damage from the sun, pollutants, or cosmetics. The visible “bumps” will usually subside within 24 hours.

You should not apply make-up for 24-48 hours to avoid unnecessary clogging of the injection sites which may lead to acne or infection. You should also avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, extreme temperatures, using saunas or Turkish baths, massages, strenuous exercise for two weeks after the injection.
